Here is a ranking of electric cars that is out of the ordinary, proposed by AnTuTu


Measuring engine performance is a thing of the past. Today, we compare electric cars like smartphones. AnTuTu offers us a ranking of the most efficient cars in terms of infotainment systems.

Benchmarks, previously reserved for PCs, smartphones and tablets, will now invade the automotive sector, particularly with electric cars.

Because yes, electric cars are now considered real computers on wheels, and as such, they are subject to performance tests, or benchmarks, comparable to those we practice on our smartphones and computers.

This development, although surprising for some, was predictable given the increasing integration of technologies into our vehicles.

In the past, car evaluation criteria focused on horsepower, decibel levels and pollution. Now kilowatts (kW), torque, range and charging time are the new metrics. But the change doesn’t stop there: on-chip systems embedded in cars are also the subject of benchmarks.

AnTuTu goes to cars

AnTuTu, famous for its performance tests on smartphones, has introduced a reference application for electric vehicles since 2023.

A telling example is that of the Xiaomi SU7. The benchmark test in this vehicle is very similar to that of a smartphone: the software evaluates the performance of the processor, graphics chip, memory as well as the response time of the system.

These results, while not directly comparable with AnTuTu’s smartphone benchmarks, show a similar dominance of Qualcomm in the automotive sector.

Of the 18 cars in the ranking, 17 are of Chinese origin

AnTuTu has published a ranking of the 17 best-performing infotainment systems tested since the beginning of June.

In the first four places, we find vehicles like the Zeekr 007 and the Xpeng, with the Xiaomi SU7 in fourth position. Notable fact: of the 18 cars in the ranking, 17 are of Chinese origin.

The first non-Qualcomm vehicle to appear in this ranking uses the series AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000. This system is still based on the Zen 2 architecture and a GPU with seven computing units. Despite this, it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 which largely dominates the ranking.

In the future, consumers may start paying as much attention to the performance of infotainment systems as they do to range or engine power. This is also what we can remember from the latest tests, whether it is the Peugeot e-3008 or the Fisker Ocean, it is slow and it does not please.

In addition, manufacturers are not used to communicating on this technical aspect. AnTuTu, and also the arrival of tech brands like Xiaomi, will undoubtedly change these habits. As proof, the discussions about Tesla, on Intel and AMD chips, including the latest software update which only concerns AMD vehicles.
