The 3008 goes electric for the first time

The opportunity for us to discover the design of this new 3008, which will offer an electric version for the first time. With this edition, the manufacturer intends to make drastic modifications to its popular SUV, after the success encountered with the second generation launched in 2016.

As said above, this e-3008 will go electric. To do this, Peugeot has decided to adopt the STLA Medium, its platform dedicated exclusively to powered vehicles. Thanks to it, the brand promises great performance and above all particularly generous autonomy: up to 700 km on the version equipped with the largest 98 kWh battery. Enough to respond directly to the Scénic E-Tech, which already announces 620 km of autonomy on its version equipped with an 87 kWh battery.

The design of two men

But what we remember above all thanks to the photos shared by Peugeot is this new line of SUV coupes. Some informed users may see similarities with the latest Renault productions. No wonder though. Indeed, we owe most of the design of this e-3008 to Gilles Vidal. After starting to work on the lines of the electric SUV, the designer left for Renault in 2020.

For Matthias Hossann, his successor, the task was therefore complicated: to deal with the elements introduced by Gilles Vidal, while adding his personal touch. We also find it on the light signature at the front, with its three large characteristic claws, as on the latest 508. Already equipped with a strong exterior identity, this e-3008 also wants to make an impression with its impressive cockpit materialized by this “Panoramic i-Cockpit”.

An XXL cockpit that should make an impression

Like the Tesla Model S with its 17″ panel, Peugeot wants to offer a gigantic 21″ block which brings together the instrumentation and infotainment screens in the same place. As we can see in the images, we will once again find the compact steering wheel characteristic of the latest Peugeot models, with tactile and customizable shortcut keys.

As a reminder, the Peugeot e-3008 will be presented this September 12, 2023 during an event taking place at the Sochaux factory (SUV production site). Deliveries are not expected until early next year.
