This Monday, December 7, 2020, the Minister of Solidarity and Health, Olivier Véran, announced the terms of the exceptional end-of-year aid, known as the "Christmas bonus". The latter will be paid to nearly 2.5 million low-income households on December 15, 2020 for RSA recipients and on December 16 for others, according to a government press release. Created in 1998 by Lionel Jospin, Prime Minister at the time, the "Christmas bonus" is a boost for the end of year celebrations. Financial assistance is allocated to any beneficiary of social minima by Pôle emploi and family allowance funds, as well as the mutual social agricultural funds (MSA), recalls LCI.

How much is the 2020 Christmas bonus?

The amount will be a lump sum for beneficiaries of the specific solidarity allowance (ASS) or the retirement equivalent allowance (AER), up to € 152.45. For RSA beneficiaries, "its amount will vary depending on the composition of their household":
– Single person: € 152.45
-2 people (couple without children or single with a child): 228.67 euros
-3 people (single person with two children or couple with one child): 274.41 euros
-4 people: single person with three children: 335.39 euros – or couple with two children: 320.14 euros
-5 people: single person with four children: 396.37 euros – or couple with three children: 381.12 euros
-6 people: single person with five children: 457.35 euros – or couple with four children: 442.10 euros
And 60.98 euros per additional child will be added.

No action is necessary. The sum, financed by the State, is automatically paid by the various organizations. The Christmas bonus will be added to the 150 euros paid in November to beneficiaries of RSA, ASS or APL.
