In its 2023 economic study, the French Telecoms Federation, which represents the French operators, demonstrates this: from 2021 to 2022, the prices of their services (high-speed internet, landline telephones, mobile lines, etc.) have created 6 times slower than inflation. Better: over the last 10 years, from 2013 to 2022, they have not increased and their weight in the French budget has even decreased, going from 1.7% in 2013 to 1.4%. Starting from a base of 100 in 2013, the prices of telecom services will be 98 in 2022. For comparison, at the same time, the price of gas increased from 100 to 164, that of electricity from 100 to 141, while general inflation of prices and services rose from 100 to 112.
Some of the cheapest offers in Europe
Consequence: the price of telecoms in France is one of the lowest of the major Western countries. In 2022, the average price of a triple play offer (unlimited high-speed internet, landline telephone, television) is 41 euros per month In France. Only the Polish internet is a little cheaper (equivalent to 39 euros). On the other hand, the Germans pay 48 euros for these offers, the British and the Spanish 53 euros, the Italians 54 euros and… the Americans 105 euros!
On the mobile side, France also figures well. The average price of a plan with at least 100 GB of data is 22 euros in 2022compare with the United Kingdom (equivalent of 26 euros), Poland (29 euros), Spain (32 euros), Germany (48 euros) and, again, the United States (81 euros).
