This year, the official opening of taxes began on April 11, 2024. And all taxpayers had until June 6 to file their declaration. By this date, you should therefore have declared your taxes otherwise you risk being exposed to heavy penalties.
And if for many French people, completing their declaration is a stressful, even painful step, because many errors can be made, know that there is also good news. Tax payment: who is affected?
There are two scenarios to benefit from the payment of taxes. The first concerns an overpayment reimbursed for the year 2023. For example, if your situation changed during the year 2023, and your withholding tax rate was too high, then the FISC will reimburse you the difference.
The second concerns tax credits. During your income tax return, in the context of donations, payment of union dues, use of home employees, childcare costs for young children, rental investments… you must have filled in specific boxes. As such, the tax administration calculates the credit it owes you based on your information. Knowing that in January 2024, you should have already received an advance of 60% of the total amount due. During the summer, it is therefore 40% of the remaining amount that you will receive on “the basis of the income tax return completed in spring 2024, provided that you have incurred expenses qualifying for reduction and tax credit in 2023”informs service-public.fr.

When will I receive the money from the FISC?
The amount of amounts paid is indicated on the 2024 tax declaration notice, but when will you receive this refund? The public service informs that the transfers are sent during the summer of 2024, between the end of July and the beginning of August. For example, in 2023, reimbursements were made on July 24 and August 2, 2023.
If for the year 2024, no official date has yet been communicated, the specialized site Everything about my finances indicates that payments will be scheduled for July 24 and/or 31. Expect in a few weeks to receive a “nice” surprise from the FISC this time.
