TikTok’s viral trick to peel an onion without crying

It is the user @cerealeatingghost who shared this simple tip. In the video, viewed nearly 500,000 times on the social platform, the young woman explains that the acid contained in onions is attracted to a source of water which, very often, happens to be our tear ducts, which we makes cry. His solution? Place a damp paper towel next to the onions to serve as a spring instead.

“Let me share my wisdom when it comes to onions, so you don’t have to cry anymore”, says @cerealeatingghost. “All you have to do is grab a damp paper towel, fold it up, and keep it on your cutting board. The acid will be attracted to the wet paper towel, not your tear ducts ”. In the comments, many users validated the trick, although some said their eyes sting a bit, but it keeps them from crying.
