In vain… Firefighters, police officers, drones, dogs… nothing has made it possible to find any trace of Françoise Boutteaux, 73 years old and Marie-Pierre Arfel, 64 years old. These two French women had gone on vacation to the Cyclades before disappearing without a trace. But what happened?
According to the first information from the investigation, Françoise and Marie-Pierre left their respective hotels at dawn, on Friday June 14, 2024 in order to begin hike together. A hike that could have been fatal for them. Indeed, according to the local press, the Greek authorities believe that the two women could have been trapped in a steep area.

Disappearance in Greece: families very worried
However, according to Juliette, Marie-Pierre’s niece, her aunt “always been very sporty”, as she confided, to Var Matin. In fact, her aunt, based in Gassin, in the Var, had started a solo tour of Greece since April. Since his disappearance, his family has been very worried. “She’s like a second mother to me. I hope we find her and find out what happened”she told TF1.
Since their disappearance, two relatives of Marie-Pierre Arfel went to Greece this Wednesday, June 19, to meet members of Françoise Boutteaux’s family there.

A call for help sent to the hotel
The last sign of life of Françoise Boutteaux dates from the morning of her disappearance. Around 6 a.m., the French tourist tried to contact her hotelier but the latter did not read her message until 8 a.m. Furthermore, the language barrier made communication between them impossible. “I couldn’t understand what she was saying to me. Then, “she sent me a photo of herself lying down and I realized she had fallen.” Ilias Gavanas told Greek television channel Mega. Before adding: “I asked him to send me his GPS location but I didn’t get a response after that.”
