The Anti-Waste law for a circular economy, AGEC, comes into force. It’s up to you to install an individual composter at home or throw your organic waste into a collective compost. Once set up, you will need to know what you can put there, and what you absolutely must not put there. To avoid damaging your compost, attracting pests and causing bad odors, do not throw away (or very sparingly) the following waste : meat, fish, nuts, shellfish, bread, citrus or potato peelings, cigarette butts, coal ashes, animal excrement and litter, grease, thorny branches, non-biodegradable materials such as plastic, dust , weeds, diseased plants or even dead walnut leaves.

On the contrary, you can place in your compost green waste : fruit and vegetable peelings (except citrus fruits and potatoes), leftover meals, expired food, grass, dead leaves (except walnut), egg shells, coffee grounds, hedge trimmings, shrubs and twigs. Side brown wasteyou can place uncolored paper, straw, untreated cardboard or even crushed branches in your composter.
