In recent years, the cost of energy has exploded in France! Faced with this surge in prices, the State has decided to give a boost to the most modest households by helping to finance part of their gas or electricity bills. If as part of the savings plan provided for in the 2024 finance bill, the question of the elimination of the fuel check was raised, on the side of Ma bonus Rénov and the personal training account, budget cuts have already been planned.

Fortunately, a “heating boost» has already been introduced by the State allowing households to replace their heating system with a new one that is more efficient and less energy-consuming. Unfortunately, given the increases in energy prices since February 1, 2024 (almost 10% more), this aid is no longer sufficient and the energy check is clearly not to be refused by French households! Although we knew that the latter was going to be sent in 2024 to the lowest-income households, we did not yet have information on these payment terms or its schedule.

Energy check payment dates by department

More than 5.8 million households in France will soon receive the energy check, here is the schedule communicated by the Ministry of the Economy for the payments which will take place between April 2 and April 25, 2024 depending on the department in which you reside:

• Week from April 2 to 5, 2024: Indre, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Réunion, Mayotte, Martinique, Saint-Martin, Ardennes, Bas-Rhin, Haute-Marne, Aisne, Nord, Pas-de-Calais, Seine–Saint-Denis, Orne, Creuse, Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne, Ariège, Aude, Pyrénées-Orientales, Tarn-et-Garonne, Gard and Vaucluse.
• Week from April 8 to 12, 2024: Allier, Cantal, Drôme, Loire, Ardèche, Haute-Loire, Nièvre, Haute-Saône, Yonne, Saône-et-Loire, Territory de Belfort, Côtes-d’Armor, Loir-et-Cher, Cher, Corsica, Vosges, Aube, Marne, Meuse, Somme, Vienne, Corrèze, Deux-Sèvres, Haute-Vienne, Charente-Maritime, Landes, Charente, Seine-Maritime, Calvados, Manche, Lozère, Hautes-Pyrénées, Tarn, Hérault, Aveyron, Lot, Gers, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Mayenne, Sarthe, Vendée and Maine-et-Loire.
• Week from April 16 to 19, 2024: Savoie, Puy-de-Dôme, Jura, Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine, Morbihan, Indre-et -Loire, Loiret, Eure-et-Loir, Moselle, Bas-Rhin (2nd shipment), Oise, Val-d’Oise, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Gironde, Normandy, Eure, Loire-Atlantique, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Bouches-du-Rhône, Alpes-Maritimes and Var.
• Week from April 22 to 25, 2024: Isère, Ain, Rhône, Haut-Rhin, Île-de-France, Paris, Haute-Savoie, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne, Deux-Sèvres (2nd shipment) and Haute-Garonne.

How will you receive your check and for what amount?

From the moment the check is sent, it will take two to four days to receive it. It is sent by post and you will receive it directly at your home. Unfortunately, nearly a million first-time buyers will receive it with a delay due to a small mistake from the administration.

The energy check then varies from 48 to 277 euros depending on your reference tax income per consumption unit. A simulator has been set up by the government to find out if you are eligible for this aid.
