here is the right way to apply it

The quest for the perfect complexion is almost perpetual. Search for uniformity thanks to low or high coverage, shine or dullness, whatever your preferences: the foundation is one of the favorite products to achieve it. But it is still necessary that it be well applied for it to have the desired effect. We reveal to you the secrets of a celebrity make-up artist to apply it like a pro!

Foundation may be one of our best allies for perfect skin, but it is a capricious friend who can quickly turn against us. Choose the wrong shade and your complexion will either be so pale that it makes you look gray, or too dark and you won’t look very smart. Put on too much and it will hide your skin texture so much that you will have an unnatural makeup, not enough and it will not camouflage well the small imperfections that you are trying to hide. Use the wrong accessory to apply it, and ugly traces will soon spoil your complexion, when it is not its outfit that can leave something to be desired … In short, as much to say that it really sublimates our skin, it is better to know how to choose the right foundation but also to apply it correctly.

That said, one question: What do Lucy Hale, Millie Bobby Brown, and Reese Witherspoon have in common? Their flawless complexion of course! And the latter, they often owe it to Kelsey Deenihan, a professional makeup artist known for her techniques of making up the lips and using the foundation, who does not fail to put them in beauty for the ceremonies related to their profession of actress. Good news if you are looking for advice on how to make up your complexion in the best possible way, the main interested party recently confided in the magazine Byrdie to reveal its secrets of foundation application. We’re taking notes!

Kelsey Deenihan’s tips for applying foundation properly

Unsurprisingly, the celebrity makeup artist first invites you to prepare the skin for makeup by moisturizing it before even starting to apply the foundation. For this step, she reminds in particular that it is very important to do it with a moisturizer perfectly suited to the type of skin in order to make it supple and soft without excessively greasing it.
While she recommends a light, mattifying moisturizer for oily skin with a view to make-up, she reminds us that it is in dry skin’s interest to apply a rich cream to obtain the best possible base. With normal to combination skin (and non-acne), a classic moisturizer will do the trick.

The perfect treatments to prepare your epidermis according to your skin type:

Once your skin is well hydrated, it’s time to apply the foundation. Which tool (s) to use to apply it and how? The makeup artist has a clear opinion on the question!
Kelsey Deenihan recommends, in fact, start by applying the foundation with your hands, by depositing a few small touches of product on the cheeks and between the two eyebrows, before putting some in the center of the face and massaging the foundation, taking care to smooth the material outwards from the face. Thus placed and worked, the product spreads well over the entire face and blends perfectly with the skin thanks to the massage for a natural result. The coverage is generally more intense in the center of the face than at the edges thanks to the outward smoothing movements, and the foundation is thus imperceptible. At this stage, it is normal that some imperfections are not totally camouflaged.

If once this is done, you notice that certain areas require more coverage, the makeup artist says that it is therefore necessary use a makeup sponge to apply more product on the affected areas. But not just any old way! She explains in fact that it is necessary press the sponge coated with foundation against the skin to gain coverage, and especially not to adopt a smoothing movement with the sponge because this could remove the foundation previously applied rather than adding a layer. Details that make all the difference to display a flawless complexion.

To finalize the beauty of the complexion, she advises finally to apply a veil of loose powder in the T zone so that the powder can absorb the sebum that flows from the pores over the hours and thus make the result last as long as possible, while avoiding unsightly shine.

In addition to applying the foundation properly, the makeup artist also recommends highlighting the cheekbones with blush to provide structure to the face.

Precepts to which we adhere to 100%! And you, did you know these different foundation application techniques and the best way to take advantage of them to display a perfect complexion?
