here is what changes in this new version

As McDonald’s launches a new campaign to promote its new recipes for its flagship hamburgers, the cult Big Mac is part of the list. What can we expect with this recipe change? We tell you everything!

The news had already been announced at the end of 2023 for the American market, and it is now the European market including France which is affected by the modification of the recipes for the flagship burgers of the yellow M firm, McDonald’s. While we know how difficult it can be to touch star products without having a negative impact on the product’s sales, the brand tried the exercise on three of these iconic hamburgers: the Royal Cheese, the Double Cheese and finally the Big Mac.

A strategy that responds to the two years of inflation that the market has just gone through as well as the ever-increasing competition from other fast-food brands in the sector. If McDonald’s has already started its reconquest plan with the launch of low-price menus, McSmart and McSmart+ at the end of 2023, it is now the turn of these flagship recipes to move upmarket to offer tastier recipes like Jean-Guillaume Bertola reveals: “ We took the opportunity to make them even better by making some optimizations in the kitchen and evolving our recipes to get back to what people love most: hotter, juicier, tastier burgers.“.

Changes expected on the Big Mac

If McDonald’s affirms it, there are more than fifty changes affecting the manufacturing process of these iconic burgers, the taste seems to remain the same according to those who had the chance to test them in preview like the writing ofBFM Business. If the ingredients and taste remain the same to the delight of Big Mac aficionados, these changes relate more to improvements to the product.

Among the list of these 50 modifications we find, among others, bread toasted for a longer time, 22 seconds compared to 17 previously, minced meat steaks cooked to order in groups of 6 instead of the traditional 8, cheese kept at room temperature so that it melts more quickly on the meat as well as the small onions now cooked directly on the steak. The amount of sauce on the Big Mac was also increased by a few milliliters and the bread was changed to become thicker and more brioche-like. Changes which will affect all restaurants in the world by 2026 and on which McDonald’s is banking to maintain its place as the king of fast food in France.
