Day 1 of the year is going to mark some changes for many of us. We know in advance, for example, that the winter sales are postponed. It is not yet clear when exactly, but it should last four weeks, as usual. But there are also new measures that should change our daily lives. Social assistance, health coverage, housing… We take stock.
Cigarettes and stamps will increase
Of course, it was hard to escape it again. Some things will increase from January 2021. Tobacco packs of twenty cigarettes will increase by 10 cents from the 1st. Regarding cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars and rolling tobacco, they will also be more expensive.
As for the stamps, it's the same. Sending mail is going to require a bit more financial investment. A 10% increase that the Post explains by the decrease in the use of postal services. We take stock:
- The green letter goes from 0.87 euro to 1.08 euro
- Red stamp for priority letter changes from 1.16 euro to 1.28 euro
- Ecopli stamp goes from 95 cents to 1.06 euro
Social assistance reform enters into force
APL will no longer be calculated on the basis of income received two years before. The reform that had been announced and has been postponed over and over again comes into force on Friday, January 1, 2021. Now, aid will be calculated on the basis of income for the last twelve months known, and this, every three months. However, the nature of the resources, the method of calculation and the scales taken into account remain the same. Regarding family allowances, in 2021, the resource ceilings for calculating the allowance will be increased by 1% compared to 2020.
Accommodations
- When it comes to housing, whether for rental, renovation or sale, things will change.
- In the event of the sale of a property, the notarial rates drop by 1.9% for the release of the mortgage. Two prices which will correspond to two brackets. One amounts to 78 euros for a capital of less than 77,090 euros. The other amounts to 150 euros above 77,090 euros.
- Ground floor apartments and individual houses must be equipped with walk-in shower. This obligation also applies to new housing.
- All owner-occupants and owner-lessors can apply for energy renovation aid from MaPrimeRénov 'from Friday January 1, 2021.
Change for prostheses and homeopathy
Good news ! Hearing aids will be covered 100% by Health Insurance and complementary health coverage. However, not all hearing aids are reimbursed in full. On the homeopathic side, on the other hand, the health insurance fund will no longer cover reimbursements.
Smic and precariousness premium
- The minimum wage will increase from the start of 2021 by 0.99%. This corresponds to a monthly minimum wage of 1,554.58 euros gross per month for a gross hourly amount equivalent to 10.25 euros.
- People on fixed-term contracts within the public service will be able to benefit from a precariousness bonus at the end of their contract, in the same way as employees on fixed-term contracts in the private sector.
