With its new operating system, Apple continues to take advantage of FaceID and allows you to access or hide your applications using this identification. We show you the method to activate it.
A simple approach
With iOS 18, you’ll be able to leave your smartphone lying around without the risk of someone accidentally posting on your social networks or going through your various photos. You can also use your device in a professional setting that requires hiding access to certain documents. We’ll detail a quick and easy method to divert attention.

With this method, the chosen apps will no longer appear in your history, notifications or even Siri suggestions according to Tom’s Hardwarewhich adds an extra level of security.
- Choose the app(s) you want to secure;
- You will then be able to press the application icon to display its details;
- Select “Require Face ID” (or Touch ID depending on your model).
For some apps, you might be tempted to hide the presence of said apps completely. In this case, choose “Hide and Require Face ID” to hide them entirely. These apps will then be placed in a special folder in your App Library.
Don’t panic if you can’t remember which apps you’ve secured. You can go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Other Apps to manage all your secured apps.

This procedure is of course reversible. To do this, simply return to the locked or hidden application and long-press it to indicate that you no longer wish to use this identification system.
