As long as you have an iPhone, you quickly get tired of Marimba, the default ringtone of the device, recognizable among thousands. For a little more diversity, and especially to recognize who is calling you just by the sound of the ringtone, it is fortunately possible to personalize the latter according to the contact on iOS.

By this method, it will no longer be necessary to take a furtive glance at your smartphone to find out who is calling you: whether it is your mother, your child or your embarrassing colleague that you want to avoid , it is possible to assign a dedicated ringtone to each person wishing to contact you in order to better avoid their call, or conversely to ensure that you never miss it. And the method to do this is actually quite simple on iOS.

How to customize the ringtone to associate it with a contact on an iPhone?

1. Go to your contacts

Start by going to the “Contacts” application on your iPhone, generally accessible using the phone icon. Next, tap the name of the person or organization whose ringtone you want to change. Their file then appears on the screen. Click the “Edit” button located at the top right of the screen.

2. Change the default ringtone

On the new page that appears, select “Default Ringtone”.

3. Choose the ringtone of your choice for this contact

Then scroll down to the “Ringtones” section. Here a whole bunch of sounds and ringtones are displayed. You can choose a new one: this will be the sound that will play when this contact tries to contact you. Note that at the bottom of the list, the “Classic” section allows you to access a whole bunch of other ringtones, for a little more choice.

This simple method, to be repeated as many times as you want depending on the number of ringtones you want to allocate to certain contacts, will allow you to directly detect the person who is calling you without having to take a look at your smartphone. If you do this method for all your contacts, you will know that the default ringtone on your smartphone will only go off for people who call you without being among your contacts (a good way to filter certain “spam” calls).

Apple iPhone 15

  • A design that gains in elegance
  • The disappearing notch
  • Ultra bright screen

The iPhone 15 does better than its predecessor, and on every level! Equipped with a superb, very bright screen (but still 60 Hz), finally free of its notch, it is already establishing itself as a wonderful traveling companion for years to come.

More versatile than ever in photography, thanks to its new sensor offering 2x digital zoom which was sorely lacking in previous models, it clearly overshadows the iPhone 15 Pro. However, keep in mind that autonomy is a real stone in the shoe of this model, which makes us prefer the iPhone 15 Plus this year. Despite everything, we appreciate the move to USB-C, even if the USB 2.0 standard is far too dated.

The fact remains that Apple is making all the right choices this year to bring its “standard” range up to speed, where the Pro models tended to take too big a lead in terms of design as well as in terms of performance.
