Samsung is used to not changing many aspects of its smartphones between two generations, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra will ultimately be very different from its predecessor in many areas.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the moment. With the official launch fast approaching, in recent weeks we have learned almost everything we need to know about the new device, enough to have a good idea of the different changes that Samsung is preparing compared to the previous generation.
While the Galaxy S24 Ultra seems at first glance to inherit a good part of the technical sheet and design of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, new leaks have just confirmed that the improvements will ultimately be very numerous.
A more durable titanium design
First of all, the big novelty of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is its titanium chassis, like Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro. We’ve already seen this new chassis in stolen photos of the device, andThe titanium frame immediately stands out in images with a more polished finish and smoother texture.
Unlike the iPhones which have seen their weight reduced, the S24 Ultra should weigh approximately as heavy as its predecessor, and will therefore be much more durable. The leaker Ice Universe also claims that the S24 Ultra will have thicker power and volume keysand we could see under the smartphone that the latter now adopted a long slot for the speaker, rather than perforations.
An even brighter and better protected screen
This year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra abandons the curved screen for a flat screen. This time the borders will be uniforms all around the screenbut the device will then become a little wider.
For this occasion, Samsung would be banking on a brand new LTPO 120 Hz M13 OLED screen that is much more efficient than the previous generation. It is particularly in terms of brightness that we will see the most change. Samsung would promise a maximum brightness of 2600 nits, compared to “only” 1750 nits on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The leaker @AhmedQwaider888 has also just announced on the screen will be protected by a whole new generation of glass from Corning: Gorilla Glass Armor. We don’t know anything about it yet, but as usual it should allow the screen to withstand even more violent shocks.
Homemade embedded AI
Samsung presented a few weeks ago Galaxy AI, its in-house artificial intelligence. This will be integrated into the next Galaxy S24, and will offer smartphones exclusive features such as real-time call translation.
We should also find other features such as the ability to launch a search simply by drawing a circle around any element on the screen, recognition of up to 10 different voices to generate a summary of a conversation or even a personalized wallpaper generator.
A new leak of One UI 6.1 also reveals features such as repositioning objects in scenes and enlarging a photo using AI or even moving subjects from one image to another.
More power from the base model
The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the only model in the series to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in all regions, while the French Galaxy S24 and S24+ will have to make do with a less powerful Exynos 2400 chip. Qualcomm’s processor will be much more powerful like every year, but it is especially on the RAM side that users can expect a big change.
The leaker @Tech_Reve shared all the versions that will be marketed for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and we now know that the smartphone will arrive with 12 GB of RAM in its basic version, compared to 8 GB previously. This is good news for all users.
Some small changes on the photo side
Finally, we know that the Galaxy S24 Ultra has some changes in store for us on the photo side. In particular, we expect a Improved 200 MP HP2SX main sensorbut above all of a new 50 MP 5X periscope, which will replace the old 10X periscope.
With all these changes, the Galaxy S24 Ultra promises to offer a very different user experience from previous models. It now remains to be seen at what prices these new products will arrive, although the first reports indicate a price freeze on this generation.
