(Boursier.com) — Hermes International, which has just announced the opening of a new store in Tianjin, is also continuing its expansion in France. Indeed, the luxury group inaugurates the extension of its historic site of Pierre-Bénite, located south of Lyon.
In order to support the success of the collections and the growth of its workforce, Holding Textile Hermès (HTH), the integrated textile division of the Hermès group, is regrouping and extending its work and production spaces and equipping itself with a new line of ‘impression.
In the cradle of French silk and textiles, Hermès is reaffirming its territorial roots, and strengthening a sector that has 950 employees, including more than 600 artisans.
The Pierre-Bénite workshops house the printing, textile finishing and ennobling know-how. The site is now spread over three buildings articulated around patios, linked together by an overhead walkway, promoting synergies between craftsmen and employees from all trades in the sector.
The new printing line will be completed by 2024 with a second line in order to continue the sector’s innovation approach and contribute to the development of printing know-how in the “Lyonnaise” frame, emblematic of the House. By 2026, Hermès plans to create nearly 120 jobs in this sector.
It should be remembered that Holding Textile Hermès was created in 2001 to bring together all of the group’s textile subsidiaries. It masters all the know-how, from tailoring through weaving, engraving, printing and dyeing to finishing. Thanks to this unique model of integration of professions, Hermès is committed to preserving the artisanal dimension of its manufacture for all of its printed silk objects. In 2022, Holding Textile Hermès also obtained the “Living Heritage Companies” label. “This distinction testifies to the commitment of the house in favor of the safeguard, the protection and the valorization of heritage know-how”, estimates the luxury house.
