Hertha wins in 15th place
BVB dealt with Wolfsburg mercilessly

Five goals in 14 minutes – against VfL Wolfsburg Borussia Dortmund shoots itself into a frenzy. And Erling Haaland didn’t have enough after that either. SC Freiburg also enjoys scoring goals and is therefore always striving towards Europe. Hertha BSC celebrates an important victory in the relegation battle.

SC Freiburg – VfL Bochum 3: 0 (2: 0)

SC Freiburg can continue to hope for their first participation in the Champions League. The Breisgauer won on the 30th matchday of the Bundesliga 3-0 (2-0) against newly promoted VfL Bochum and have at least temporarily drawn level with RB Leipzig in fourth place.

Lukas Kübler (4th) and Roland Sallai (16th/53rd) scored for Freiburg, who could reach the final of the DFB Cup for the first time next Tuesday with a win in the semifinals at second division Hamburger SV. To make matters worse, Bochum’s Konstantinos Stafylidis saw the red card (68th) for VfL, as did Bochum coach Thomas Reis afterwards.

FC Augsburg – Hertha BSC 0: 1 (0: 0)

Hertha BSC has sent a clear sign of life in the table basement and left a direct relegation zone in the Bundesliga for the time being. The Berliners won a week after the derby debacle in the basement duel at FC Augsburg 1-0 (0-0) and initially jumped to 15th place in the table. The Augsburgers, on the other hand, missed a big step towards staying up and are only four points ahead of the relegation place.

Suat Serdar (49th) scored the decisive goal in front of 28,533 spectators for the Berliners, who celebrated only their second win in the past nine games. For coach Felix Magath’s team, it was also a successful start to the “Weeks of Truth”, in which direct competitors VfB Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld are next waiting. After the second bankruptcy in a row, FCA have to deal with the relegation battle again.

1. FSV Mainz 05 – VfB Stuttgart 0-0

VfB Stuttgart has missed a liberation in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga. The Swabians, who are weak away from home, had to settle for a 0-0 draw at FSV Mainz 05 after a harmless performance for a long time and even slipped back into the relegation zone in the final spurt of the season before the Weeks of Truth.

Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s young team didn’t develop enough penetrating power against Mainz, once again let the few chances lie too lightly – and after a short interim high they have been waiting for a win for three games. The trembling continues, next weekend the tough rest of the program starts with the important basement duel at Hertha BSC.

Borussia Dortmund – VfL Wolfsburg 6: 1 (5: 0)

After a Schützenfest, Borussia Dortmund can only theoretically take part in the Champions League for the seventh time in a row. Coach Marco Rose’s team defeated the completely overwhelmed VfL Wolfsburg 6-1 (5-0) and with four games left they have a twelve-point lead in fifth place. The gap to leaders Bayern Munich was reduced to six points before the top game with the German record champions, at least until Easter Sunday.

Bundesliga debutant Tom Rothe (24th), Axel Witsel (26th), Manuel Akanji (28th), Emre Can (34th) and Erling Haaland (38th, 54th) scored for the especially in the first half as in Intoxicated BVB, who celebrated their 13th win in the last 14 games (a draw) against their favorite opponent. Ridle Baku (81st) was successful for Lower Saxony.
