Hunter Biden’s art deal enrages Republicans

Up to $225,000 for an abstract artwork by Hunter Biden? The affairs of the president’s son are a thorn in the side of the US Republicans. They demand clarity about the anonymous buyers of the images. The Trump party suspects corruption.
In the course of their investigations into the family of US President Joe Biden, the US Republicans now want information about the art shops of his son Hunter. Republican Chairman of the Key Committee on Oversight and Reform, James Comer, wrote in a letter to New York gallery owner Georges Bergès published Wednesday that he was seeking information about the anonymous buyers of Hunter Biden artworks he exhibits. Although this is an inexperienced artist, he received exorbitant amounts of money for the sale of his works of art. Bergè’s deal with Hunter Biden raises questions about whether the Biden family is “again” selling access and influence.
Bergès advertised that Hunter Biden’s latest work of art was priced between $55,000 and $225,000, Comer wrote. It is worrying that President Biden’s son is the recipient of anonymous, high-value transactions without any accountability. “The identities of the buyers remain unknown and you appear to be the only one who knows about these lucrative transactions.”
Comer added on Twitter: “Why would anyone pay Hunter Biden so many dollars for an artwork that is presumably worthless? He’s no Pablo Picasso.” Hunter Biden had his first exhibition at Georges Bergès Gallery in New York in November 2021. The “New York Times” wrote at the time that it was certainly more than the work of an amateur. But the exhibition with Biden’s abstract art should not make anyone green with envy.
In the runaway 2020 election battle, the son of then-presidential candidate Joe Biden had become a fixture of then-President Donald Trump’s camp. Hunter Biden’s lucrative post on the board of directors of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma – while his father was a vice president under President Barack Obama – left Joe Biden in need of explanation. Trump had also repeatedly alluded to Hunter Biden’s drug addiction.
Comer went on to say his committee is investigating “the machinations” of President Biden and his family at home and abroad. For over a decade, the Biden family has benefited from Joe Biden’s positions.
