The rumor of the takeover of Kojima Productions by Sony was born following the appearance of an image representing Sam Porter Bridges (Death Stranding), alongside Aloy, Ellie, Kratos or Deacon St John, on a PlayStation Studios banner.
This visual, shared later by Kojima, raised a lot of questions and some wondered if the development studio behind Death Stranding had joined the group, PlayStation Studios. If, in other words, Sony had bought said studio.
However, Kojima, himself, wanted to respond to this rumor. In an explanatory tweet, the creator of Death Stranding and Metal Gear games apologizes for the misunderstanding and said that Kojima Production is and will remain an independent development studio.

In addition, remember that according to some sources, Hideo Kojima is currently working with his team on a new horror game. This one could be an Xbox exclusive. But nothing is quite official at this point.
