Senior IS terrorist killed in Syria

Abu Mujahid is a leading IS figure in Syria and smuggles fighters into the country for the terrorist militia. Now an anti-terrorist alliance has succeeded in storming his hiding place. A Kurdish militia says: “Because he strictly refused to surrender peacefully, a fight broke out that led to his neutralization.”

Shortly after a new leader was appointed to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia, one of its senior members was killed in eastern Syria. The US alliance fighting IS killed him with the help of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) led by Kurdish militias, according to Kurdish circles. The SDF said Ibrahim al-Ali was killed during the operation in Raqqa on Tuesday. An anti-terrorist group from the Kurdish regions of Iraq supported the operation.

“Our troops successfully stormed the building where the terrorist was hiding. Because he staunchly refused to surrender peacefully, a fight broke out that led to his neutralization,” the SDF said. Weapons, military equipment and technical equipment were also secured during the operation.

Ibrahim al-Ali was known by the combat name Abu Mujahid and was responsible for areas in eastern Syria at IS. According to Kurdish circles, his job was to bring fighters from neighboring Iraq to Syria. “The killing of this man is important,” said the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel-Rahman. In the north-east of Syria, IS has been increasingly active in recent months and has carried out more than 100 attacks since the beginning of the year.

US troops were stationed in Syria in 2015 to support the Syrian Kurds and their allies in the fight against IS. There are currently around 900 US soldiers in the civil war country. Two weeks ago, IS confirmed the killing of their leader and named Abu Hafiz al-Hashimi al-Kuraishi as his successor. He is now the fifth man to lead the terrorist militia since they proclaimed a “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq in the summer of 2014.
