But despite the extensive protocols, descriptions and burial ground plans, Johann Rudorfer from the Natural History Museum in Vienna is convinced that not everything from the Hallstatt period has come to light. One reason: Many of the finds, which were of little value at the time, were probably left behind in the ground, such as ceramic vessels or other grave goods. “The excavation method used at the time was also not clearly handed down. We can assume that there are also remains of graves documented at that time or human remains in the ground.”
