High loads – Tyrol’s food trade warns of thinning

At the beginning of September, Tyrol’s bakers, butchers and confectioners painted a gloomy picture and warned that numerous jobs were at risk if the high energy costs and the associated decline in sales were not addressed. The “Krone” reported. On Friday, Stefan Mair, WK chairman of the state committee in the food trade, and deputy Lorenz Wedl went out. The industry, which has 1,450 member companies with 15,000 employees and generates an annual added value of 1.35 billion euros, achieved a nominal sales increase of 5.9 percent in the first half of the year. “However, adjusted for inflation and prices, there is a real economic decline of 5.5 percent,” as Mair calculates.
