A visit to the cinema is still ruled out in many places due to Corona. Hilary Swank thanks Netflix and Co., who partially close this gap.
Even Hollywood doesn't have it easy in Corona times. Almost everywhere in the world, visits to the cinema are either not possible at all or only with strict conditions. The result: Many films are currently offered directly on streaming portals such as Netflix and Co. The actress Hilary Swank (46, "The Hunt") is happy about this in an interview with "Welt am Sonntag". "In times of cinema lockdown, this means everything to us filmmakers right now."
In addition, Netflix is one of the streaming providers that, in their eyes, never claimed to bury the cinema industry. Many original productions were also shown in the cinema: "To still have these options, that's super important for me as an actress and producer." She is "infinitely grateful that there is this possibility." Swank predicts better times for the currently stumbling cinema industry: "Love grows with distance."
That's why she believes in a rush of visitors when the pandemic is over. There is an "energy that you can only feel when you watch a film with many other people." Cinema is magic for them. Swank herself won two Academy Awards for Best Actress for "Boys Don't Cry" in 2000 and 2005 for her performance in "Million Dollar Baby". From September 4th, she will appear in "Away" as an astronaut on Netflix.
