Hip jeans: This fashion sin is celebrating its trend revival

The fashion carousel is turning faster and faster: If we were still wearing our high waist jeans, our all-time favorite is now sliding a few centimeters down. Yes, fashionistas have to be very strong now: the hipsters are back. Here's how we're styling the 90s relic now.

Taste can be argued over. And admittedly: We didn't think hipsters were really cool in the 90s and early 2000s. All the worse that top model Bella Hadid names this fashion sin again as an absolute it-piece.

From fashion no-go to designer darling

And it's not just Bella who swears by low-rise jeans. Designers like Gucci are also conjuring up the trend of yesteryear and have their male and female models in extra low-cut trousers stumble across the catwalk. And experience shows that we know: what Gucci shows will become a trend!

This is how we style the retro trend

First of all: If it used to be cool among pop icons à la Britney Spears to let the thong peek out from under jeans, in 2020 we prefer to do without this small detail. We also leave out short-cut, tight-fitting tops – unless we are called Bella and are a Victoria's Secret model AND fashion influencer by profession. For an urban, everyday look, we use a wide cropped sweater and dad sneaker.

Or, like model Emily Ratajkowski, we casually throw on an XXL denim jacket. If the look is a bit too naked for you, you can opt for a tank top, polo shirt or (our favorite) turtleneck sweater. It is important that the tops are long enough to tuck into the waistband.

Also cute: For her big sister Gigi's birthday, Bella combined her black hipsters with a white cropped top and knitted cardigan in a granny look. On top, the model styled a wine-red blouson jacket. Layering for advanced users!

And? Do you feel like wearing hipster jeans again or does the fashion revival just embarrassingly remind you of your youth?
