Near Valenciennes, Friday the 13th stuck to its reputation and became, for a man, a cursed day. The one where he discovered the corpse of his brother and his mother…
It was on Friday the 13th that a man living in Normandy made a horrifying discovery at the home of his mother and brother, both living together south of Valenciennes, in Maing. This man, the second son of the family who decided to settle in Normandy, had not heard from his mother or his brother for two months. The mail sent remained unanswered, causing growing concern to the point that he ended up making the decision to travel the miles separating him from his family to come and see for himself what was going on. According to France bleu who reported the testimony of the deputy mayor of the city, Corinne Collet, the second son quickly realized that something was wrong.
“His mother couldn’t stand flies, he immediately understood that something was going on“explained the assistant. Indeed when he arrived at the home of his mother and his brother, the man saw many flies at the window of the house. He quickly scaled the locked gate before entering the house, the door of which was open. Beyond the pile of mail he found, he mostly came across the corpse of his mother who was lying, and that of his brother, on a chair, in a state of decomposition. France Bleu reports that the deputy mayor then took more than two hours to be able to bring a doctor who was then able to confirm the death of the two inhabitants of the house rue Henri Barbusse in Maing.
Domestic accident, suicide or murder?
According to the carbon monoxide measurements taken on site, it was not not from poisoning due to this deadly gas. Autopsies will be carried out to precisely determine the time and cause of death of the two victims who had been living in the same house for several decades. Mayor Philippe Baudrin, also interviewed by France Bleu, explained that there was “never a story, never a problem with this family. They arrived in this town before me, more than 35 years ago!“. The assistant added that the whole town is in shock. “As soon as something happens, we are notified. We did not expect to live such a difficult time in such a quiet street”.
