The mother of Kiely, an American teenager who has been missing for more than a week, has launched a new appeal to find her daughter.
It’s been almost two weeks since Kiely Rodni disappeared in California. The 16-year-old was at a party when she vanished. Earlier this week, the police announced that due to the lack of elements to advance the investigation, the search would be increasingly limited. The area where the teenager disappeared was overflown, searched but also probed by divers. So many inspections that have so far yielded nothing. Kiely’s vehicle, a silver 2013 Honda CRV, also disappeared from the campground where the party was taking place. Authorities have not said whether they suspect foul play in the disappearance. In a statement to KTXL, the sheriff’s office said, “We are treating his disappearance as a kidnapping as we have not yet located his vehicle.”
On Tuesday, Kiely’s mother spoke out again, hoping to see her daughter return home safe and sound. When interviewed by NBC Bay Area, she said, “Kiely is strong, she’s resourceful, smart, tenacious, fiery. She has a love life. I know she’s not one to give up easily. And this situation is no different for her. Lindsey Rodni-Nieman added “just wait for her to come ringing.” But the concern is immense. For the moment, no one knows what happened to the girl, while several hundred teenagers and young adults were at the party. “We’re just trying to piece together all the pieces of her last moments at the party to figure out where she went and with whom,” her mother said. In addition to relying on the police, Kiely’s family is also supported by “all of his friends who were there that night.” “They have been so cooperative and they are so brave to come to us to share their story. We have immense love for all his friends and are grateful for their engagement with everyone, as well as their honesty about all that they have done.
The many messages from the police
Authorities said the week they recovered CCTV footage showing the teenager on the Friday night she disappeared around 6.30pm from a shop in Truckee, where the party was taking place. The images have been released, in particular by the FBI, but do not, however, provide new leads for research. On Saturday, the police explained at a press conference that the young girl’s last internet data was located at the campsite, near the water, “but it is difficult to give an exact location, outside or in the water”.
After releasing several photos of Kiely, police on Sunday revealed another image that matched an item of clothing she may have been wearing that evening. It’s a white and pink hoodie with ‘Odd Future’ written on it that she was filmed wearing at the party. Last week, police said Kiely may also have borrowed another hoodie, this time reading, “You don’t want to be forgotten, you just want to disappear.” These words are taken from the lyrics of a song by Lana Del Ray. As of a week, authorities again called on anyone with information to come forward. “If you were there and saw anything, please let us know,” said Lt. John Barnhart of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
