Tomorrow, Monday March 8, will be International Women's Day. On this occasion, the Ministry of Equality launched the # 1000possibles campaign. Secretary of State Elisabeth Moreno has asked 70 female figures to write a letter to the 1,000 little girls who will be born that day in France. Among them, the singer Nolwenn Leroy, the humorist Mamour, the activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten, the gendarmerie colonel Karine Lejeune, or the judokate Clarisse Agbegnegnou. The singer Apple also delivered her thoughts in a touching and strong text, relayed by 20 minutes.
"Here you are among us. So here you are, you arrive in a world that is not quite right. I mean, the Earth is round, we have known that for a good number of years now, but humans, them, are not all round and sweet like you. You were born a girl. I must tell you that the girls of this world do not always have the same rights as men. Yes, even in 2021. There is no reason valid for that, except that the men decided it and that they are very, very long on the change. It's been years that we fight, women, men, so that the change arrives more quickly, and so that we are considered exactly like men. It's moving forward, even if it's long. You can, if you want later, join this immense movement, which is called feminism, and which keeps me alive as well as hundreds of thousands of people. We will need you ", writes Apple.
She goes on to recall that, if the person to whom she is speaking was born a girl, she will also have every right to feel "rather boy or rather between the two. […] You are free to be whoever you want. […] You are you". “You're going to come across situations where you'll be belittled, treated differently because you're a girl, people will pay close attention to your appearance, that's called sexism. In her letter, the singer recalls the importance of "sorority path", the need to support each other among women.
