This story unfortunately echoes that of this woman who died after eating a certified vegan wrap, which in reality was not. On January 26, a young woman named Anna Bellisario together with her boyfriend, went to eat in a Milanese restaurant. The young woman of only 20 years old ordered a tiramisu for dessertan Italian pastry very famous for its creamy and gourmet side.
Allergic to lactose, an allergy that can be fatal, Anna has read the product label carefully in order to check its composition before consuming it, as she used to do. Very serious about her allergy, the young woman also requested confirmation of the absence of lactose in the tiramisu from the restaurant staff, in order to be certain that there was no danger for her while tasting it. After having been reassured by restaurateursthe young woman then decided to eat her dessert, then convinced that there was no trace of milk inside.
After a 10-day coma, Anna Bellisario died
After ordering her vegan tiramisu, which Pamela Anderson could have ordered given her vegan diet, Anna decided to eat it, without suspecting that it was going to turn into a nightmare. Indeed, the young woman suffered anaphylactic shock after two spoonfuls swallowed. Having on her an antihistamine and an asthma medication, the young woman had the reflex to immediately take them, but it was still too late to save her. Anna Bellisario then passed 10 days in a coma, before dying tragically as a result of this anaphylactic shock.
Following this drama, her boyfriend never ceased to proclaim Anna’s caution regarding her lactose allergy: “She was always very careful. She looked at the label and again asked for confirmation that it didn’t contain any trace of milk.”, he explained. A manslaughter investigation was thus opened. The first elements revealed that the vegan tiramisu that Anna consumed would have been contaminated in the factory where it was prepared. Indeed, other milk-based desserts were also produced there.
