The startup “HistaFood” from “The Lion’s Den” offers food for a low-histamine diet. How does that taste? BRIGITTE tested the snacks from “HistaFood”.

People with histamine intolerance suffer from unpleasant symptoms after consuming histamine-rich foods such as red wine, sausage or matured cheese. Stomach pain, headaches or even circulatory problems can occur. To prevent this, you should in case of intolerance Avoid foods rich in histamine. But making the change is often not easy for those affected.

“The Lion’s Den”: Is “HistaFood” the solution for histamine intolerance?

The founders Ana Hansel and Melina Neumann also had to eat a low-histamine diet for a while and found the change to be exhausting and time-consuming. To change that, they developed numerous under the “HistaFood” brand Foods suitable for a low histamine diet are. The “HistaFood” range includes muesli, bars and spreads. The products are not only low in histamine, but also vegan, gluten-free and made from organic ingredients. But do they taste good? BRIGITTE editor Natalja did the test.

The products of “HistaFood” in the test

In total, I tested three products from the “HistaFood” brand: Bars, muesli and vegetable spread. In addition to these products, the startup has other products in its range, such as vegetable sauce, vegetable broth, baking mix and herbal salt.

The bolt

in the “grain bar” contains oat flakes, rice syrup, dates, rice flour, maple syrup, pumpkin seeds, coconut oil, hemp seeds and linseed – all from certified organic farming. It was refined with cinnamon, sea salt and cardamom. That sounds healthy and delicious – and it is! The bar is beautifully soft, has a fine cinnamon-cardamom note and a pleasant sweetness. The taste test is clearly passed!

The cereal

That “grain muesli” contains a similar combination of organic ingredients as the bar: oat flakes, pieces of dates, rice flour, linseed, pumpkin seeds, hemp seed, chia seeds, psyllium husks as well as cinnamon, sea salt and cardamom. I add a dash of oat drink and try it. The muesli tastes just as good as the bar! The fine spice notes and the sweetness of the dates are also shown to their best advantage here. In addition, the muesli keeps you full for a long time.

The vegetable spread

Many spreads are taboo for people with histamine intolerance. The spread “VegetablePrank” should offer an alternative. Contains carrots, beetroot, rapeseed oil, currant juice, carrot juice and apple juice. Seasoned with sea salt, paprika, rosemary, oregano and thyme. I’m trying the spread on whole grain bread. It is juicy and flavorful and tastes quite Italian thanks to the combination of herbs. It’s too hearty for breakfast, but I definitely recommend it as a snack in between or for dinner.

Conclusion

The products from “HistaFood” contain healthy ingredients of the best quality and taste really good! The products are for people who suffer from histamine intolerance a good alternative. But you can also recommend muesli, bars and spreads to everyone else.
