historic victory for the far right in the Italian legislative elections

“We will govern for all Italians”, assured the boss of the Italian far right Giorgia Meloni, who wants to lead the government after her victory in the legislative elections on September 25.

Her Fratelli d’Italia party won more than 26% of the vote, and the right-wing alliance to which she belongs obtained, with more than 44% of the vote, a clear and clear majority, both in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate.

On the other side of the political spectrum, the Democratic Party is in sharp decline. He barely won 19% of the vote, and 26% if we count his coalition partners. The Terzo Polo party, led by former council president Matteo Renzi, won just under 8% of the vote. Giuseppe Conte’s 5-Star Movement won 15% of the vote, while its score was 33% in the same elections in 2018.
