Hit and run – Drunk driver drove down cyclists

The ride of a 35-year-old cyclist on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Dornbirn ended with a hospital stay. He was hit by a car from behind.

A heavily intoxicated driver drove into a cyclist in Dornbirn on Saturday evening. The 35-year-old was thrown onto the hood of the car and then onto the street, police said. The 51-year-old driver initially stopped, but left the scene of the accident without having rendered any assistance. Shortly after the accident, the woman went to the Dornbirn police station on her own. The 35-year-old was taken to the hospital. An alcohol test was carried out at the police station, which confirmed that the woman was heavily intoxicated. The 51-year-old was immediately deprived of his driver’s license. It is reported to the public prosecutor’s office and district authority.
