Hittisau – Dead man rescued from burning house by fire department

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Bregenzerwald community of Hittisau in Vorarlberg: a house burned down completely – one man could only be rescued dead.

The fire brigade’s alarm went off at 5 a.m. on Wednesday: When the Florianijüngers arrived at the house in Hittisau, the property was already fully ablaze, with flames shooting meters high from the roof. The emergency services were only able to rescue a 48-year-old resident of the house dead from the rubble on the first floor. A 50-year-old, the victim’s brother, was able to save himself from the flames in time and leave the house. He survived the house fire uninjured. The cause of the fire is still completely unclear and police investigations are ongoing. Around 20 emergency vehicles and between 150 and 170 emergency services were on site.
