Russian televisions, muzzled by the Kremlin, broadcast in loop the atrocious images of Boutcha in Ukraine, but, in the parallel reality of Russian power, these exactions are presented as crude stagings and montages of Ukrainians.
Monday morning, on the state channel Pierviy Kanal, it was the presenter of political debate programs Olga Skabeeva who took over the special edition which has lasted since the beginning of the war, of “the special operation launched by Vladimir Putin, in Ukraine. His mission for the day: to justify the images of Boutcha to the Russians by densifying the fog of war. The introduction is clear. According to her, the deaths of Boutcha in the north of Kyiv were “victims of blatant provocation by Ukrainian Nazis”. The host and her guests claim that “Zelenski and absolutely the entire so-called civilized west are trying to create a hybrid version of a fake Srebrenica.”
The channel must be able to react at any time to videos that appear on the Russian web. Because if the Russians live under glass, some social networks still allow the dissemination of videos from Ukraine. State television then has no choice but to seize these images to broadcast them. The content remains the same, the caption changes. Facts become fakes, victims become culprits, Russian methods – the distortion of facts – are attributed to foreign media.
