Hogwarts Legacy adds a mode to reassure arachnophobes

The launch of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox One coincides with an update adding a mode designed for those who have a phobia of spiders.

In your entourage, there are undoubtedly many people who are terrified of spiders. It’s a fairly common phobia, which can be a real concern when watching a movie/series or when playing a video game. For example, in Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy, adaptation of the Harry Potter universe, certain environments are full of spiders to fight. For some, it is a real nightmare, even an obstacle impossible to circumvent.

But Warner Bros. finally thought of them, several weeks after the launch on PS5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PC. In a tweet shared on May 4, the publisher announces the arrival of an “arachnophobia” mode via a free update. This novelty coincides with the release of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox One. ” Swap the arachnid enemies for less scary variants “, reads the description. This transformation does not affect gameplay or difficulty.

How to activate anti-spider mode in Hogwarts Legacy?

The “arachnophobia” mode of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy hides in the game settings, more precisely in the tab dedicated to accessibility options. It is at the very bottom of the list: you can choose to activate or deactivate this feature. The modification is immediate and there is no need to restart the game for it to be taken into account.

With the mode ” arachnophobia activated, you will no longer have to face disgusting spiders, which will then be replaced by strange creatures whose shapes resemble a spider (a large body). The creatures in question get rid of anything that offends arachnophobes, like paws or hair — the roller skates, meanwhile, will ring a bell for fans of the movies.

About JK Rowling

The editorial staff received the video game Hogwarts Legacy to test it before its release on Friday. JK Rowling did not originate it and was not involved in its design. We reject the active transphobia of the author, who finances anti-trans associations, which endanger the lives of trans people.

In addition to appearance, the “arachnophobia” mode reduces the sounds produced by spiders and the swarming effects, just as it makes the bodies of dead creatures disappear (they become invisible, without removing the collisions). Beware, the spider icon in the enemy intel will always be there to haunt you.

To note that Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the only game with the spider-phobic in mind. A title like Evil Westyet focused on a dark and horrifying universe, also includes an option to hide them.
