The State of Play of this Thursday, March 17 left you speechless? It’s quite normal. The gameplay trailer which was presented for 14 long minutes via Sony’s conference will probably have amazed many. The graphics seem really promising, the animations are worked and, above all, the activities offered seem simply beyond the expectations of the biggest fans of Harry Potter. The community manager of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy has also managed to describe the RPG in a simple sentence: “It’s the game every fan has been dreaming of for 20 years.”
Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros Games under the official Portkey Games label, let’s take a look back at everything Hogwarts Legacy has to offer.
Release date, price, pre-order and Switch version
Sorry, you won’t get better than one launch window at the moment and she is stalled at the very end of the year 2022. For a final release date, we will probably have to wait a few more months, during a new opportunity to communicate on the game (why not during the Summer Games Fest) so that we are fixed on the day of our registration at Hogwarts. Surprisingly enough, Hogwarts Legacy should be available on Nintendo Switch, even if we don’t know by what miracle this is possible given the beauty of what we saw yesterday: maybe a Cloud version in the pipes ?
In the meantime, the Harry Potter RPG signed Avalanche Studios should tumble on all mediums new generation, but also those of the previous generation. Finally, it’s quite logical with a release date that has not yet been decided: if pre-orders are indeed already available in certain stores at around 70€, the “official” ones are still not open. However, we are counting on Warner to provide one or more editions collectors overpriced, which will go like hotcakes when the time comes.
Huge open world and promising gameplay
For the moment we do not really know how it will be possible to evolve around Hogwarts Castle, nevertheless the map presented some time ago in concept-art looks absolutely huge. If we add to it Fully explorable Hogwarts Castlewith its secret rooms and puzzles, the Harry Potter game could “give a smile” to hundreds of thousands of fans around the world.
The game Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy made an impression when a 14-minute gameplay trailer was revealed. The State of Play was also an opportunity to let the developers do the talking, and unique concept arts showed us the vastness of the open-world map!
At the moment, it’s a little early to be screaming for joy: we’ve seen some pretty areas and landscapes that were unusual even for the film series, but the structure of the adventure is still a big question mark. the battle gameplay is much less nebulous and really promising, since you will have to mix lots of different spells according to the situations and the types of enemies, in order to make your dueling skills shine. We will obviously have to see if the range of spells is “so” extensive as that and if the progression system which accompanies it holds the road and allows an authentic feeling of power gain over the adventure.
Do you prefer to struggle to eliminate dragons or rather enjoy the scenario in easy mode? In both cases, the Harry Potter RPG will offer different difficulty modes for the greatest pleasure of the players!
A dark storyline with a Dark Mage as the antagonist
We now know the synopsis of Hogwarts Legacy: as a young wizard who has developed faculties for ancient magic (very rare source of power), you have experienced a tragic episode which will lead you directly to fifth year at Hogwarts. When creating your character, you can of course choose your wand or even your house among Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or even Hufflepuff. The story then takes place at the end of the 19th century and begins more precisely the September 1, 1890. For your integration, you will be accompanied by Professor Fig who is currently investigating mysterious goblin rebellions.
In truth, he is the great villain of the story, a Dark Mage of the same ilk as Grindelwald, who controls goblins and various creatures in order to cause mayhem. His goal ? Stealing from you the source of ancient magic that flows within you and simply hampering yourself.
Centaurs, goblins, trolls or even Inferi: who are the real enemies in Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy? Without a doubt, it would seem to be this black mage present in the gameplay trailer of the open world rpg.
Multiplayer and micro-transactions?
It was probably the daydream of many magicians, but no, Hogwarts Legacy will not have a multiplayer mode. The State of Play could possibly leave a little doubt, but Warner’s communication put everyone in agreement in the process: it is an experiment purely solo and no online options should interfere with your adventure.
The other side of the coin is that, suddenly, no microtransactions will not be put on sale in the interface, to facilitate progress or to buy you different “skins”. We feel that Warner Bros Games has learned a few lessons over the years, especially with the Shadow of Mordor games, dedicated to the Lord of the Rings license. This caused a huge outcry at the time: the game asked you for an excessive dose of grind if you were going to challenge the toughest enemies in the game… Or to put your hand in your pocket. In Hogwarts Legacy, none of that, it’s the community manager who says so and you can read his message to the community below.
Is the waiting system featured in the Room of Requirement during Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy gameplay an indicator of microtransactions for the game? Will I have to pay to speed up the time?
Of course, we could still talk to you about hours of Hogwarts Legacy as the State of Play has been so rich in information. Don’t worry, you can consult our dedicated portal in the game daily so as not to miss any detail: easter-egg, collector, difficulty, room on demand or even bestiary, we will go through everything with a fine-tooth comb to offer you specific content for each feature of the rpg.
