On the occasion of a new State of Play, the next title from Avalanche Studios has been unveiled. The RPG in the Harry Potter universe, Hogwarts Legacy has thus shown its gameplay in addition to closing the window of its release at the end of the year holidays 2022. Exploration, puzzles and magic await you in the corridors of Hogwarts, as well as an ancient evil which has awakened.
You are a wizard, Harry
Set in the 19th century, the player embodies a new Hogwarts student, arriving directly in fifth year. After creating your character, you have to take part in different courses in order to learn how to master magic. By diligently following these courses, it will be possible to create powerful tools for your exploration. But also learn new ways to defend yourself or counter an opponent.
But that’s not all, because the choice of a class and a specialty are expected. This will allow you to define specialties for this avatar, in which progression will be easier. Its different skills will then be better defined, while sets of cards will strengthen them. But since our student is very special, he will soon be faced with a crucial choice: hide his true powers or succumb to black magic.
A rich and immense universe to explore
But why learn all these spells in the end, if not to use them. Many secrets and dungeons are hidden in Hogwarts and its surroundings, which can be explored. Your magical skills will then be put to the test. Duels are at the heart of the gameplay of Hogwarts Legacy, with combinations of powerful spells to defeat your opponents. But it’s also possible to learn and use spells that even your teachers dread.
This universe is not confined to Hogwarts, but offers a huge world to explore. Hogsmeade and its station will be particularly accessible, in addition to less hospitable lands that extend beyond these borders. In order to navigate this world, the player can use his flight lessons to take advantage of a more efficient means of movement. This will allow him to travel more ground and encounter more creatures that he will have learned to calm or fight during his studies.
