Passengers on the SunExpress evening flight from Nuremberg to Antalya last Wednesday (August 31, 2022) must have been amazed. Because there were simply not enough staff to load the around 160 pieces of luggage, the decision was made at Nuremberg Airport to take off without luggage, as airport press spokesman Jan Beinßen now told us inFranken.de communicates.

Due to delays of previous machines, the loading crews were still busy with the baggage handling of the delayed machines. Normally, a certain “staff buffer” is always allowed for in such situations, but in this case the “overlapping was so great that there was no loading crew available at the time,” as airport spokesman Jan Beinssen explained in an interview inFranken.de explained.
However, since the flights still had to keep their slots, the decision was made to take off without luggage and to deliver the suitcases and bags on the next two flights the following day. However, everything went smoothly and was well planned. “No chaos broke out here,” says Beinßen.
“You have to see that in perspective,” he emphasizes. The affected flight is one of 400 flights that went from Nuremberg to Antalya during the summer holidays, with all others there were no problems. “Since situations like this can always occur in exceptional cases, we advise holidaymakers to always take the most important things for a night in their hand luggage anyway,” says Beinßen. This makes it easier to bridge any waiting times.
