It does not always have to be an official adventure trail. SRF 1 Outdoor reporter Marcel Hähni tested four alternatives with his family. His conclusion: “My children are still enthusiastic today.”

An idyllic path along the Sihl

Here you will discover dozens of whole and broken tombstones, the inscriptions of which are often still legible. Some of the stones bear moving messages such as: “Thank you to our dear Muetti Anna Bopp-Stutz, 1887-1958” or “Thank you for your love”. The tombstone path tells a fascinating story and invites you to take an extraordinary walk. Hike: Sihlbrugg-Dorf-Sihlsprung-Sihlmätteli (Restaurant) – Menzingen. The hiking time is between three and four and a half hours. Depending on the variant, it is only partially suitable for prams.

The stone at Lake Burgäschi: a hike to historical treasures

Start at the church in Aeschi and follow narrow paths into the Burgäschisee nature reserve. The picturesque lake invites you to swim and has a fascinating history. Neolithic finds have been made in the area, which is why it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We continue through cool forests to the Steinhof plateau. Impressive giant boulders are waiting there, transported over 180 kilometers from the Rhone Glacier 20,000 years ago. The largest, the “Grossi Flue”, is the third largest in Switzerland. Continue your hike along the fields to Seeberg. The beautiful farming village of Seeberg impresses with historic farms and a 500-year-old small-leaved lime tree. Through the forest and along the Burgäschisee you return to the starting point. Hike: Aeschi – Burgäschisee – Steinhof and back. It takes about four hours.
