Tentative agreement between writers and producers

Is an end to the strike in sight? Authors’ and producers’ representatives have reached a tentative agreement. This is how it continues now.
The American screenwriters’ strike could soon end after more than four months. “We have reached a preliminary agreement on a new minimum framework agreement,” says an email from the authors’ union WGA. which, among other things, according to “The Hollywood Reporter” went to the members on Sunday evening. It is a “fundamental agreement on all points of negotiation, subject to the final contractual language being drafted.”
The Mail described the agreement as “extraordinary” “with great pride”. It brings “significant improvements and protection for authors in every area of membership.”
The AMPTP, the producers’ association with which the WGA is in dispute, confirmed the agreement in a joint statement with the union. After talks stalled in recent weeks, negotiations have picked up pace in recent days. The heads of the broadcasters and streaming services Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros. and NBC took a seat at the negotiating table. The agreement should be valid for three years.

Details of the deal have not yet been made public. They are scheduled to be presented to WGA members for a vote on Tuesday. If they approve the contract, negotiations can take place about whether the strike can be ended until the agreement is finally ratified.
In May of this year, the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) called for a strike. It was about better conditions for authors at broadcasters, studios and streaming services. The future role of artificial intelligence in content creation is also a point of contention.
In July, the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA joined the labor dispute. It is the first double strike in the USA in over 60 years.
