The 2024 European Football Championship begins on Friday and promises to be a sporting event of superlatives. The broadcasting rights for all 51 games are held by MagentaTV, Telekom’s pay-TV service. Thanks to sublicenses, however, ARD, ZDF and RTL broadcast many games on free TV, so football fans have a wide range of broadcast options. This means that football fans can watch all the games live.

The 2024 European Football Championship will be broadcast extensively on television and as a live stream in Germany. MagentaTV has secured the rights to all 51 matches of the tournament. However, only five of these games will be shown exclusively on MagentaTV, including the meeting between Germany’s group opponents Hungary and Switzerland on the first matchday.

ARD, ZDF and RTL can broadcast a total of 46 games live via sublicenses. RTL works closely with MagentaTV and broadcasts 12 games, ARD and ZDF each have the rights to 17 games. These include all of the German national team’s games, including the opening game on June 14 in Munich and the final a month later in Berlin. ZDF will broadcast the opening game on June 14, ARD the final on July 14.
