Sometimes it's really not easy to step on the gas in the home office without any social control. With these 5 strategies against the distraction, you can still finish work on time.

Problem 1: The bugs need love

Well, unfortunately no cleaning crew comes to our house at dawn to clear the ship like in the office. And so we see, as soon as our gaze breaks away from the screen: the edges of coffee, disorder and bugs that ask for attention. The chaos doesn't get any less when you sit at home all day and have to cater for yourself.

Tip against the distraction: If available, involve the family more often (reactivate the cleaning plan from time in a shared apartment!), Otherwise we recommend: treat yourself to a temporary cleaning aid.

Problem 2: … so do we

Your loved one is right next door … and wouldn't a little oxytocin be a pretty good antidote to work stress? No, it wouldn't be, because we want to close the laptop on time tonight.

Tip against the distraction: Give yourself a quick hug (why were we given two arms?) And save the tête-à-tête for later. Without time pressure is always better.

Problem 3: Neighborhood Watch

Has the friend of the nice neighbor across the street finally moved out? There was time too, as much as they argued … And why does the guy from above have to hear his opera arias again? Counter it with a good techno roar.

Tip against the distraction: The only thing that helps is shielding yourself from neighbors and your own curiosity. Curtain up, headphones on, look gestraight on to the screen.

Problem 4: Siren Internet

Which brings us to the main problem of our home office existence: promising screens everywhere and zero social control by colleagues or superiors. The Whatsapp message could be extremely urgent, I wanted to try this "Candy Crush" now and the new series shouts very loud: "I WAAAARTE!"

Tip against the distraction: Focus strictly on after work. It comes earlier, the more you move away now. Then we are really free, even from a guilty conscience.

Problem 5: The bed is probably still warm

If we don't even sit right next to it due to lack of space, we regularly pass it on the way to the refrigerator or toilet: the bed. Does that look cozy again! God, was I so tired before !? And a little power nap should be super healthy!

Tip go the distraction: Yes, okay, a power nap is like a restart for the brain, and we need a lot of it at work. But only if you set the timer for a maximum of 20 minutes and put the cell phone down far enough that you have to get up when it rings.
