Honeywell: acquisition of Swedish Saab’s HUD systems

(CercleFinance.com) – The American Honeywell announced on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with Saab for the acquisition of the Swedish defense group’s head-up display (HUD) activities.

The industrial conglomerate says it intends to integrate these systems, which allow pilots to follow their flight path, glide path and touchdown point on the runway on their cockpit screen, within many of its avionics offerings.

“HUD technology allows pilots to have better situational awareness, especially at night or in difficult weather conditions,” explains the diverse group.

As part of the agreement, Saab plans to work with Honeywell to develop and strengthen its product line in HUD systems.

Honeywell intends to integrate this technology into Anthem, its new avionics suite with an ‘intuitive’ interface that should offer pilots a wider field of vision, high-resolution images and low latency.
