Honor Magic 6 Pro: Instead of touch and voice control – you operate this cell phone with your eyes

Between the big smartphone manufacturers Apple and Samsung, Honor usually only plays a secondary role. With the Honor Magic 6 Pro, the Chinese company behind the brand now wants to show off and is focusing on a special feature: eye tracking. The feature was already presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

According to the Xiaomi fan site Xiaomiui, the smartphone uses the built-in AI support (“Magic Capsule”) to determine the area of ​​the screen that you as a user look at. Eye movements are recorded with minimal delay. A few quick glances are enough to navigate through menus, open apps and notifications and carry out other actions.

Such eye tracking is otherwise mainly reserved for expensive high-end headsets such as the Apple Vision Pro or can only be retrofitted in the form of additional hardware or software. To use the feature, you simply have to have your biometric data recorded, as is also known from Face ID functions. This only takes a few seconds.

Honor has big plans

However, so far the function is only available on Chinese Honor Magic 6 Pro smartphones. The company is definitely committed to making the potential of this feature available to a much larger audience in the future. In an experimental demo at MWC, a concept for hands-free car control was even presented.
