Honor Magic V: screen, size, photo, battery … a big leak tells us everything

The leaker Ishan Agarwal would have got his hands on the technical sheet of the Honor Magic V, the first folding smartphone of the Chinese brand. From its dimensions to its screen, including its photo configuration and its battery, let’s take a full look at this major leak.

To discover the Honor Magic V in world premiere, meet on January 10, 2022. The Chinese company, independent of Huawei for more than a year, has formalized this date to present the very first foldable smartphone in its history. A model that will compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Oppo Find N, in particular.

And a few days before his official induction, the leaker Indian Ishan Agarwal thinks he knows the technical sheet of the device. The interested party decided to publish his information in collaboration with MySmartPrice, which reveals a whole bunch of previously unknown characteristics. Obviously, everything is to be conditional.

Thinner than the Samsung Z Fold 3

Let’s start with the dimensions of the product. Folded, the Honor Magic V would display the following measurements: 160.4 x 72.7 x 14.3mm. Unfolded, you would expect this: 160.4 x 141.1 x 6.7mm. In terms of thickness, it would therefore be thinner than the 16 mm of the Z Fold 3 – when the hinge is taken into account – but also 0.3 mm thicker when folded.

In terms of weight, it is inevitable to expect something “heavy”: count 293 grams, which would be above the 271 grams of its rival Samsung. Knowing that the latter already weighs in hand, the Honor Magic V should therefore be even heavier in your handcuff and your pocket. Which is not really encouraging.

In terms of screens, Ishan Agarwal relies on the following specifications:

  • External display: 6.45 inch, OLED, 2560 × 1080 pixels, 120 Hz;
  • Internal display: 7.9 inch, OLED, 2272 × 1984 pixels, 90 Hz.

As already predicted, the two panels would not be entitled to the same refresh rate – probably for a question of energy saving – nor to the same screen definition.

Long live the 50 megapixels

The photo would be supported by a triple sensor configuration.

  • 50 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.9);
  • 50 megapixel ultra wide-angle (f / 2.2);
  • 50 Megapixel Enhanced Spectrum Camera (f / 2.0).

The latest sensor seems to promise particular photo modes, although the mystery remains as to its true usefulness. We will surely be more when it is officially presented on January 10. Note that at the front, a 42 megapixel (f / 2.4) sensor would ensure your selfie shots.

Quick charge on the menu

To run the entire system, the Honor Magic V would rely on Qualcomm’s state-of-the-art chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen, combined with Android 12 and a 4750 mAh battery that would be recharged thanks to a beautiful 66 W block. Level configuration, we should expect 12 + 258 GB or 12 + 512 GB.

The new renderings provided by the leaker reveal three different colors: white, glossy black and orange.
