Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson and Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann will be awarded an honorary Oscar in 2022.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has the winners for the honorary Oscar 2022 announced: Among others, US star Samuel L. Jackson (72, “Django Unchained”) and Norwegian Liv Ullmann (82, “Persona”) will be honored.

The director Elaine May (89, “A New Leaf”) and Danny Glover (74, “Lethal Weapon”), who is to receive the Jean Hersholt Prize for his social commitment, also received prizes.

Awarded in January

“Sam Jackson is a cultural icon whose dynamic work has resonated with all genres, generations and audiences worldwide, while Elaine May’s bold, uncompromising approach to filmmaking as a writer, director and actress resonates as loudly as ever with movie buffs.” said David Rubin, president of the Oscar Academy, in a statement.

The courage and emotional openness of Liv Ullmann touched the audience deeply, and Danny Glover’s decades of advocacy for justice and human rights reflect his commitment to “showing our common humanity on and off the screen,” emphasizes Rubin.

The honorary Oscar is awarded for a life’s work, exceptional contributions in the field of film and outstanding service to society. The trophies are to be presented to the winners at the Governors Awards gala on January 15, 2022 in Los Angeles.
