This Saturday afternoon, the Horizons party is organizing its first congress at the Parc floral de Paris. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne will be present. The opportunity to try to ease the tensions between the two groups of the majority. Because if Edouard Philippe presents himself as an ally of Emmanuel Macron, disagreements remain between the two camps.

Elisabeth Borne will be alongside Edouard Philippe this Saturday afternoon for the first Horizons congress at the Parc floral de Paris. The Prime Minister will speak to the troops of her predecessor’s party at Matignon which, a year and a half after its launch, claims 20,000 members, including 400 local elected officials. She should call on the presidential camp to “unite” while relations are very tense between Philippists and Macronists.

Strong tensions between the two camps

The towel is burning between the president’s party, Renaissance, and that of his former prime minister, Horizons. So much so that half a dozen Philippine deputies planned to abstain on the pension reform before the executive decided to use 49.3. They were going to defect at a crucial moment, which deeply annoyed the president, confides a heavyweight from Macronie.

Beyond the pensions, tensions have been high between the two components of the majority for several weeks, between proposed laws challenged on both sides and attacks exchanged by the media.

However, Horizons is a member of the majority. “We support the government and the Prime Minister”, reminded Edouard Philippe this week in Le Figaro. The mayor of Le Havre also warned against any form of immobility and reached out to the Republicans for a government agreement.
