When and where can we see the eclipse?

At around 4.30 a.m. our time on Tuesday morning, the moon enters the umbra of the earth, at around 5.30 a.m. it has completely disappeared and around 7 a.m. it has left the shadow area again. Theoretically, we could watch the spectacle wonderfully in this country – if it weren’t so bright at this time of the year at this hour and if the moon was still in the sky. Especially in north-eastern Germany, where the moon sets shortly after 5 a.m. on Tuesday, there is hardly anything to be seen of the lunar eclipse this time, but in the south and south-west it can be worth setting the alarm and looking at the sky.

We can follow the next total lunar eclipse in Europe in 2025, but it will also not be clearly visible, but we will have a top-class lunar eclipse on New Year’s Eve in 2028 – if it is not totally cloudy.
