Horror crash in Lower Austria – alcohol accident: 16-year-old dead, three seriously injured

A 31-year-old drunk driver got into the opposite lane on Friday night in the Weinviertel on the B46 between Gaweinstal and Mistelbach (Lower Austria) and collided with a car. The drunk driver and two occupants of the other car were seriously injured, a 16-year-old died in the hospital.

The alcohol driving of the 31-year-old had catastrophic consequences. Shortly after the driver got into the oncoming lane, another car crashed. The car, in which an 18-year-old and two 16-year-olds were sitting, was thrown into the ditch. Occupants were freed before the car caught fire Other road users were able to free the three occupants before the car caught fire. The fire brigade was then able to quickly bring the vehicle and embankment fire under control. 16-year-old died in the hospital. After the accident at 0.15 a.m., the seriously injured were transported to the state clinics in Hollabrunn and Mistelbach and to the trauma center in Vienna-Meidling. The emergency doctor helicopter “Christophorus 2” was also used. The 16-year-old from the Mistelbach district succumbed to his serious injuries in the district capital’s hospital. An alcohol mat test at the 31-year-old was positive. He will be reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Korneuburg and the district authority in Mistelbach after the investigation has been completed.
