Released in theaters on July 5, Insidious: The Red Door grossed $182 million worldwide for a budget of $16 million. In France, the 5th opus in the saga has gathered more than 600,000 horror film fans, the franchise’s best score.
To celebrate this success and convince potential new viewers, Sony Pictures has released the first 9 minutes of the feature film! As a reminder, in 2011, horror movie fans discovered the Lambert family and their demons in Insidious by James Wan.
Written by Leigh Whannell and starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins and Lin Shaye, the film follows Josh, his wife and their three children who have recently moved into their new home. But quickly, Dalton, the eldest, falls into an unexplained coma and a succession of paranormal phenomena begins.
A medium then reveals to them that the soul of their son is somewhere between life and death, in the astral dimension. 12 years later, Insidious: The Red door, the 5th and last film in the franchise, was released in our theaters.
In this 12-and-under-12-rated feature film, Josh and his now-student son Dalton must delve even deeper into the Far Away to confront their family’s dark past and a multitude of ever-worrisome spirits that hide behind the Red Door.
Note that this 5th episode is directed by Patrick Wilson himself, hero of the saga. This is his first feature film as a director.
