Freddy Krueger, one of horror cinema’s scariest boogeymen is about to make his big comeback!

The character appeared in 1984 in The Claws of the Night, directed by Wes Craven. He cheerfully murdered Johnny Depp, who held one of his first roles on the big screen in this film. A bloody introduction for the future superstar.

Played by Robert Englund, Freddy is a bogeyman recognizable among all with his face disfigured by the fire which he hides under a soft hat, his red and green striped sweater and his gloved hands with long sharp claws!

Robert Englund, 75, portrayed this walking nightmare in 8 feature films, released between 1984 and 2003. We now learn that the boogeyman could return to service, under the leadership of Jason Blum, the famous producer specializing in cinema horrific.

Asked by ScreenRantJason Blum has confirmed that he wants to recover the rights to the saga and bring back Robert Englund in the role of Freddy.

After resuscitating the Halloween franchise and The Exorcist, the producer is therefore preparing to bring Freddy back from the dead to give us a good dose of chills!

The clawed killer is a true icon of horror cinema, just like Michael Myers (Halloween) or Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th). In addition, Freddy was entitled to a remake in 2010. Englund had been replaced by Jackie Earle Haley.

Note that the 75-year-old American actor stood out in season 4 of Stranger Things, in which he plays the mysterious Victor Creel.

In the meantime, Jason Blum’s latest horror production, Black Phone, hit theaters on June 22.
